‘Islamic banking’ scam carried out by I Monetary Advisory (IMA) in which thousands of investors have lost savings worth crores has now also led to a marital dispute.
As per a Times of India report, an investor’s wife has walked out of their marriage after he lost Rs 25 lakh worth of savings. The wife is said to have left their home and also also taken their daughter along.
The husband, a hotelier by profession had raised Rs 25 lakh after selling his land in Chikkamagaluru and wanted to buy a place in Bengaluru. After getting the money he was advised by his friend to instead invest the amount in IMA Jewels to earn handsome returns within a year.
Aamir decided to take the advice and went ahead with the investment without telling his wife. After the wife came to know about Aamir losing his savings, she decided to leave their home and no amount of convincing on the husband’s and family’s part rectified the matter.
As a result, Aamir has now approached Vanitha Sahayavani, a women’s helpline attached to Bengaluru City police for help in the matter.
“Aamir wanted us to counsel his wife, stating money is not everything in life but relationship is very important. We have asked her to meet us at the centre on Tuesday”, senior counsel Iqbal Ahmed was quoted as saying.
