The Covid-19 tally in Odisha saw the addition of 130 more cases raising the total number of positive cases in the state to 2,608, said the health department on Friday (5 June).
The number of deaths due to COVID-19 in Odisha rose to eight after a 63-year-old male patient of Khordha district succumbed to the virus.
"Regret to inform that a 63-year-old male patient of Khordha district who had tested positive for Covid, passed away while under treatment in hospital. He was a chronic patient of diabetes and other underlying comorbidities," tweeted the Odisha Health department.

With this, the active cases in the state stood at 1,117 while 1,481 persons have recovered from the disease so far.
Ganjam district has reported the highest 533 Covid-19 positive cases so far, followed by 293 infections in Jajpur, 217 in Khurdha, 179 in Balasore, 163 in Kendrapada,154 in Cuttack, 136 in Bhadrak, 105 in Balangir, 99 in Puri, 87 in Jagatsinghpur, 81 in Sundergarh, 76 in Nayagarh, 60 in Nuapada, 57 in Mayurbhanj, 51 in Gajapati,
Other districts that have reported 40 or less cases include Boudh (34) , Dhenkanal (33), Deogarh (33), Keonjhar (32), Angul (31), Sonepur (26), Kandhamal (25), Kalahandi (25), Malkangiri (21), Sambalpur (16), Baragarh (16), Koraput (14), Jharsuguda (7), Rayagada (2) and Nawarangpur (2).
