With Haryana And Maharashtra Elections Just Days Away, Rahul Gandhi Leaves India For Bangkok Trip

Days ahead of the crucial 21 October state assembly elections in Haryana and Maharashtra, former Congress party chief Rahul Gandhi has left for a trip to Bangkok, reports Zee News.

As per reports, Gandhi left for Bangkok on Saturday (5 October) by boarding a Vistara flight.

Gandhi's trip comes at a time when the party's state units are witnessing unprecedented infighting over seat distribution-related issues.

It should be noted that the charge of corruption and anomalies over ticket distribution in Haryana and Maharashtra have been led by Ashok Tanwar and Sanjay Nirupan respectively, who are both known to be close to Gandhi.

Tanwar and Nirupam have both alleged that the senior politicians in the party are specifically sidelining the leaders groomed by Gandhi or ones who are close to him. It should be noted that Tanwar, who had recently been sacked as chief of the party's Haryana unit had resigned from the party's primary membership yesterday.

Tanwar, before resigning from the primary membership had also staged a sitting protest outside the party's headquarters in Delhi to protest against the manner in which the party bosses had distributed tickets. He has also alleged that the ticket for Sohna assembly constituency was sold for a whopping Rs 5 crore.
