With Over 3.3 Lakh Cases, Brazil Now Has Second Highest Number Of Covid-19 Infections In World After US

With over 3.3 lakh Coronavirus positive cases, Brazil on Friday (22 May) surpassed Russia to become the second most Covid-19 affected country after the United States.

Brazil’s Health Ministry on Friday said that there were 330,890 Covid-19 cases in the country, reports Hindustan Times.

As many as 20,803 new cases were recorded in the South American nation in the last 24 hours.

With this, Brazil’s Covid-19 tally has surpassed that of Russia, where 326, 448 people have been infected so far from the deadly virus.

The US has the highest number of Coronavirus cases in the world, with over 16 lakh people infected in the country, according to John Hopkins University.

The death toll due to the Covid-19 in the Brazil has also surged to 21,048 with 1,001 deaths reported in the last 24 hours.

The highest concentration of cases is in the Southeastern region of the country, with the large numbers in Sao Paulo (76,871 cases) and Rio de Janeiro (33,589 cases).

The Northeastern region of the country has the second-highest concentration of cases with 34,573 cases in Ceara and 25,760 cases in Pernambuco, according to the Brazil Health Ministry data.
