Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday (8 March) announced that seven women achievers will share their lives' journeys and interact with the people through his social media accounts on the occasion of International Women's Day.
“Greetings on the International Women's Day! We salute the spirit and accomplishments of our 'Nari Shakti'. As I'd said a few days ago, I'm signing off. Throughout the day, seven women achievers will share their life journeys and perhaps interact with you through my social media accounts,” the Prime Minister tweeted.

As Iâd said a few days ago, Iâm signing off. Through the day, seven women achievers will share their life journeys and perhaps interact with you through my social media accounts.
On 3 March, Modi had announced he would give his social media platforms to women to handle on Women's Day.
In a series of tweets, the Prime Minister said that India had outstanding women achievers who had done great work in a wide range of sectors.
“Their struggles and aspirations motivate millions. Let us keep celebrating the achievements of such women and learning from them.”
India has outstanding women achievers in all parts of the nation. These women have done great work in a wide range of sectors. Their struggles and aspirations motivate millions. Let us keep celebrating the achievements of such women and learning from them. #SheInspiresUs

The selected women later started sharing their experiences and began connecting with people using PM Modi’s handle.
Sneha Mohandas, one of the selected women, who runs an initiative to provide food for hungry and poor people, became the first person to be operating PM’s account.
Using the platforms, she told how she was making efforts to eradicate hunger from people’s lives.
You heard of food for thought. Now, it is time for action and a better future for our poor.

Hello, I am @snehamohandoss. Inspired by my mother, who instilled the habit of feeding the homeless, I started this initiative called Foodbank India. #SheInspiresUs pic.twitter.com/yHBb3ZaI8n
In a series of tweets, Mohandas also urged people to join the movement and feed at least one poor person and contribute to a hunger-free planet.
I feel empowered when I do what I'm passionate about! I wish to inspire my fellow citizens, especially women to come forward and join hands with me. I urge everyone to feed atleast one needy person and contribute to a hunger free planet. - @snehamohandoss#SheInspiresUs

Earlier on the occasion, the Prime Minister also greeted senior BJP leader Vasundhara Raje, saying she had made "noteworthy contributions" towards Rajasthan's progress and distinguished herself as a Union Minister.
After Mohandas, motivational speaker and disability activist Dr. Malvika Iyer shared her story using PM Modi’s Twitter account.
Iyer, who lost both of her hands in a bomb blast at the age of 13, told how giving up was never an option and education is very essential to bring about a change.
Acceptance is the greatest reward we can give to ourselves. We canât control our lives but we surely can control our attitude towards life. At the end of the day, it is how we survive our challenges that matters most.

I survived a gruesome bomb blast at the age of 13 that blew off my hands and severely damaged my legs. Yet, I worked and went on to get my PhD.

Iyer also expressed her gratitude towards the Prime Minister for choosing her for the purpose and said she believed, “India is on the right path in dismantling age old superstitions regarding disability”.
