Taiwan-based iPhone maker Wistron's manufacturing facility in Karnataka's Kolar yesterday saw its employees go on a rampage and take to vandalism over issues related to non-payment of salaries, reports Business Today.
Violent employees raised slogans against the management, pelted stones at the office, shattered glasses, broke office equipment, and set the company's name board and two vehicles on fire. Later, the Police reached the spot and arrested 80 people, and brought the situation under control.
Wistron is a contract manufacturing behemoth and employs around 8,000 people at its Bengaluru facility where it not only manufactures iPhones for Apple Inc, but also other products for renowned brands like Microsoft and Lenovo among others.
The Police are now investigating the matter and have taken the CCTV footage from the facility.
