The squads, which have the sleuths — both men and women — dressed in plain clothes, are tasked with keeping stalkers and eve-teasers at bay. These squads are deployed at public places like colleges, streets, shopping malls, markets, parks, bus stands, railway stations and even schools.

In the last two years, these squads have checked 12,616,18 public places. Over 2,400 persons were warned daily by these squads.

The Uttar Pradesh police have decided to give more teeth to these squads, the report says. Soon, the personnel who are part of these squads will have wardrobe-mounted cameras to make sure no one goes unpunished.
