‘You Lordships Sit In Cozy Rooms Where Nobody Questions You’: BJP MP Manoj Tiwari Tells Supreme Court 

Bharatiya Janata Party MP Manoj Tiwari said in the Supreme Court on Tuesday (30 October) that while the judges do not have to face the public, he has no such luxury.

Senior Advocate Vikas Singh, during a hearing in the apex court, said on behalf of the MP, “Judges sit in this cozy area where nobody comes to question them. People question me, I am responsible”.

The hearing related to a September 2018 matter in which Tiwari had broken the seal of a locked house in an unauthorised colony in Delhi. A contempt plea was filed as a result.

Tiwari had broken the seal of a house in Gukulpur village of North-east Delhi on 16 September to protest against the “pick-and-choose” policy of municipal officials acting against properties which flouting building rules.

“That by breaking the lock of a sealed premises, he did nothing that would amounts to contempt of court". Tiwari’s counsel said on his behalf.

The Supreme court has reserved its order in this case and has asked the BJP MP to appear before it following which the court will pass the order.
