You may soon have to shell out more for a flight from the Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport in Lucknow if the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has its way. According to a report by the Times of India, the LMC has decided to impose a nominal fee of Rs 100 on all passengers flying in and out of the airport for using civic amenities in and around the airport.

Since LMC provides these facilities, it can impose tax on people using it. The increase is nominal Rs 100 per air ticket.

The additional tax will be added after the LMC House Meeting scheduled to take place next month. The LMC will then forward the proposal to the state government.

The corporation also plans to levy taxes on people using helicopters, private planes, and helipads at the airport.

The additional fee, akin to a user development fee (UDF) will be added to the cost of the air ticket.

Currently, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Inernational Airport in Mumbai and Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru levy additional charges that will go towards the construction of a Metro line to the airport.
