A Madhya Pradesh youth who went viral in a video for completing barefoot 100-meter dash on road in 11 seconds has been invited by the State Athletics Academy in Bhopal, the state Sports Minister Jeetu Patwari said, reports the New Indian Express.
The youngster, Rameshwar Gurjar is from the Sikandarpur-Narwar in Shivpuri district of Gwalior-Chambal region. Rameshwar arrived in the state capital on Saturday (17 August) morning, to showcase his sprinting calibre to seasoned coaches at the Athletics Academy.
Former MP CM and BJP’s vice president Shivaraj Singh Chouhan shared the video on Twitter.
India is blessed with talented individuals. Provided with right opportunity & right platform, they'll come out with flying colours to create history!

Urge @IndiaSports Min. @KirenRijiju ji to extend support to this aspiring athlete to advance his skills!

Just to give an idea of how fast Rameshwar ran barefoot and on-road, we need to compare him to legendary sprinter Usain Bolt, who set the benchmark for the 100-meter dash in 9.58 seconds. With proper training and facilities, Rameshwar can at least represent India in athletics.
Speaking to the NIE, minister Jeetu Patwari said: “Rameshwar could be a national asset if, given the right professional guidance, he’s now in Bhopal, wherein the coming days, seasoned coaches will first test his talent. In future, he could be enrolled at the same academy and trained by best coaches.”
Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju also posted a video of him during the trails, during which Rameshwar was not able to perform at his best. However, the minister believes he can become better and asks media not to pressurise him.
My appeal; Pls don't burden Rameshwar Gurjar with extra expectation. Will provide full support but pls remember, in athletics, there's limit to human endurance. Besides coaching, it depends on both cardiovascular capacity & the metabolic characteristics of the skeletal muscles! https://t.co/wdGDI2CjBs
