Pushing forth a major connectivity and infrastructure project for the state of Gujarat, the state’s Chief Minister (CM) Vijay Rupani announced on Tuesday (16 November) a semi high-speed rail corridor between the cities of Ahmedabad and Rajkot, reports Asian News International (ANI).
To be built at a cost of Rs 11,300 crore, the corridor will be connected with the presently under construction high-speed bullet train corridor which will operate between Ahmedabad and Mumbai in Maharashtra.
Once the newly announced corridor would be completed, it would witness trains zooming between Rajkot and Ahmedabad at speeds of 160 kilometers per hour, covering the distance between the two cities in just two hours.
The project will give a major fillip to connectivity for the Saurashtra region of the state. Rupani's government aspires to initiate start the project along with the bullet train between Ahmedabad and Mumbai.
