Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president K Surendran has alleged that a faction of the youth wing of the Congress party in Kerala created 1.25 lakh fake voter cards during the elections for posts in the Youth Congress.

In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), he said that the app was built by a Congress MLA from Palakkad district and top leaders Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, KC Venugopal and VD Satheesan were aware of the issue.

"Absolutely shocking. The youth wing of @INCKerala has created 1.25 lakh bogus Voter ID cards using an application. This app was built by a Congress MLA from Palakkad district. Senior Congress leaders @kcvenugopalmp and @vdsatheesan were fully aware of this. Why is the @INCIndia silent on this issue? The Congress party has become a threat to our national security."

"The @INCIndia President @kharge and @RahulGandhi were completely aware of the mobile application that has been used to generate fake Voter ID cards by the @IYC Kerala unit. They also got a formal complaint regarding the same.

"However, the top leadership of the congress tried to quell the issue. It is crystal clear that the Congress high command is also involved in this conspiracy to sabotage the democratic process of this great nation."

Calling it a serious offence, he said that these voter cards could be used to purchase SIM cards or vote in the general elections. He also attached a screen recording of the process of making a voter card through the app.

Later he shared a letter written by him to the Director General of Police, asking him to ensure a thorough and prompt investigation into the matter.

The BJP would also take up the matter with the Election Commission of India, he said.

A report by Kerala Kaumudi regarding the issue carried a picture of a complaint that was sent to Rahul Gandhi, KC Venugopal, national president of the Youth Congress BV Srinivas and others.

According to a report by Reporter TV, an app called CR Card was used to make the voter cards. The app could make a voter card within five minutes when provided the name, address and passport photo of the person.
