11.57 Lakh Farmers Benefitted From Paddy Procurement In KMS 2021-22, Got Rs 41,066 Crore As MSP Value: Govt

The government on Tuesday (9 November) said that over 11.5 lakh farmers benefitted from the paddy procurement at the minimum support price (MSP) in the Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2020-21.

The Food Ministry on Tuesday said that the paddy procurement is progressing smoothly in Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2021-22 at MSP from farmers in 14 states and union territories (UTs).

"The Department of Food and Public Distribution under Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution has procured over 209.52 lakh metric tonne LMT of Paddy in KMS 2021-22 till 08 November in the procuring states and UTs of Chandigarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Telangana, Rajasthan, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Bihar," the ministry said in the release.

The ministry further said that the paddy procurement has benefitted about 11.57 Lakh farmers with MSP value of Rs 41,066.80 crore.

It should be noted that in the Rabi Marketing Season 2021-22, a quantity of 433.44 LMT of Wheat was procured (which is all time high) and about 49.20 lakh farmers were benefitted with MSP value of Rs 85,603.57 crore.
