Delhi BJP on Friday (23 June) challenged Chief Minister and AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal to declare that he would contest against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the upcoming elections.

This comes as Kejriwal is attending the opposition meet in Patna today.

Taking exception to a tweet by AAP that claimed that PM Modi was afraid of the Delhi CM's growing popularity, Delhi BJP spokesperson Harish Khurana tweeted in Hindi, "If you believe that you are more popular than Narendra Modi ji and Modi ji is afraid of you, then have the courage to announce in Patna today that you will contest the Lok Sabha election once again in 2024 against Modi ji from Varanasi".

Khurana further added that it was Kejriwal who was scared of PM Modi.

"This is the language that AAP and Arvind Kejriwal's operatives use," Khurana said, quoting the AAP tweet that said "Kejriwal ki badhti lokpriyata se dara Modi, (Modi is scared of Kejriwal's rising popularity)", questioning the Centre's appointment of the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) chairperson late on Wednesday evening.

It should be noted that top opposition parties, including Congress, RJD, SP, are meeting in Patna today to chalk out a roadmap for formation of an anti-BJP front for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
