Amidst its decision to steer clear of an alliance with the Congress, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab is strategising to nominate sitting and former ministers and MLAs for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

As reported by Indian Express, AAP is contemplating granting tickets to current ministers like Dr Balbir Singh, Balkar Singh, Gurmeet Singh Khuddian, Kuldeep Dhaliwal, and former minister Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar.

Conducting numerous surveys across all 13 Lok Sabha constituencies in Punjab to gauge winnability, AAP has approached these leaders, urging them to contest from their respective home districts.

While Laljit Singh Bhullar, a cabinet minister, was considered for the Khadoor Sahib constituency, he opted out of the parliamentary elections, according to reports.

In Bathinda, AAP may field either Cabinet Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian or MLA Balkar Sidhu, while Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Dhaliwal's name is being deliberated for the Gurdaspur seat.

AAP's sitting Rajya Sabha MP Sanjiv Arora is also being evaluated for the Ludhiana seat, and Sushil Kumar Rinku, the incumbent Lok Sabha MP from Jalandhar, is likely to seek reelection.

From Sham Churasi, sitting MLA Dr Ravjot Singh is among the contenders for the Hoshiarpur seat.

Malvinder Singh Kang, AAP's chief spokesperson, is emerging as a top choice for the Anandpur Sahib constituency.

Meanwhile, Kulwant Singh, the Mohali MLA, declined the opportunity for the Fatehgarh Sahib seat.
