After Chhattisgarh, Anti-Maoist Operation Now In Odisha: Two Naxals Killed, One Injured In Encounter With Security Forces

Two Maoist cadres were found dead by the elite anti-Naxal force, the Special Operations Group, following a gunfight with a group of Maoists in the Parhel reserve forest area of Odisha's Boudh district.

The Director of Intelligence, Soumendra Priyadarshi, stated that the bodies were recovered, and efforts are underway to identify them with the help of surrendered rebels.

One additional Maoist was reportedly injured during the encounter, according to a report from Hindustan Times.

The security forces also seized explosives and arms, including an under barrel grenade launcher, from the site.

This incident comes ahead of the simultaneous assembly and Lok Sabha elections scheduled in Odisha on 13, 20, 25 May and 01 June. Boudh district is set to go to the polls on 20 May.

This area has witnessed at least seven similar incidents in the last four months.

In an earlier report from Chhattisgarh, an ongoing anti-Naxal operation in the forest area of Chhotebethiya police station limits in Kanker district resulted in the deaths of at least 18 Maoists.
