Alaska Airlines Temporarily Grounds Boeing 737-9 Fleet After Midair Incident, Investigation Underway

Alaska Airlines have took a proactive safety measure by grounding its entire fleet of 65 Boeing 737-9 aircraft following a concerning midair incident that necessitated an emergency landing in Portland, Oregon.

As reported by Indian Express, the unsettling event occurred shortly after takeoff, leading to a blown-out window and fuselage section and the subsequent depressurization of the cabin.

Despite the challenges, the pilots successfully executed a safe return to Portland International Airport, with 174 passengers and six crew members on board.

Prioritizing passenger safety, Alaska Airlines CEO Ben Minicucci announced the temporary grounding of all 65 Boeing 737-9 planes.

This decision was made to facilitate thorough maintenance and safety inspections, a process expected to be completed within a few days before the aircraft are deemed fit for service again.
