Boeing was scheduled to deliver 22 Apache and 15 Chinook helicopters to India and the whole process from contract signing and delivery was completed in five years.
Both these helicopters have played a vital role in India's preparedness along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) amid tensions with China.
The IAF had pressed its deadly attack Apaches into patrolling duty near the LAC along with premier jets like Sukho Su-30 MKIs and MiG-29s. The Chinook workhorses on the other hand were instrumental in transporting personnel and defence equipment towards the LAC.
