Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting with Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Health Minister J P Nadda on Thursday (20 June) over National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) irregularities.

As per Indian Express, the meeting that lasted over an hour witnessed the issue of the paper leak being discussed. Shah was briefed about all FIRs registered related to the NEET-UG exam.

The exam was held on 5 May for admission to medical colleges in Undergraduate (UG) courses. The conduct of the autonomous testing agency NTA has been under question since then.

While the Supreme Court has directed a re-exam for 1,563 students who were given grace marks, five people have been arrested in Gujarat's Godhra for orchestrating a cheating scam.

Also, 13 people including four candidates, three parents and members of a gang allegedly leaking papers have been arrested in Bihar. A report from Bihar police has been sought in this regard.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) has been set there to probe the paper leak allegations. Its investigation so far is "suggestive of a paper leak".

The meeting at Shah's residence comes a day ahead of the nationwide protests on 21 June, that the Opposition including Congress has planned. Shah was briefed about all FIRs, especially those registered in Bihar.
