Asian Games 2023: India's Medal Tally Rises To 34 With Contributions From Shooting, Rowing, Cricket And More

India has so far bagged a total of 34 medals in the 19th Asian Games being held in Hangzhou, China.

The Indian medal tally includes 8 gold medals, 13 silver medals, and 13 bronze medals.

The country is currently at fourth position in terms of medals after China, Japan and South Korea.

India's medal rush has been led by its sharpshooters, who have played a pivotal role in accumulating 19 medals.

Among these, India's marksmen and markswomen have clinched six gold medals, eight silver medals, and five bronze medals across various shooting events.

India has also claimed gold medals in women's cricket and equestrian events.

Rowing has emerged as the second-highest contributor to India's medal count, with two silver medals and three bronze medals.

India's medal tally also received boosts from sports such as sailing, equestrian (which yielded a gold medal), cricket, squash, tennis, wushu, and athletics, highlighting the nation's multifaceted sporting talent.

Notable gold medal-winning events for India included 10m Air Pistol Team Men, 10m Air Rifle Team Men, 50m Rifle 3 Positions Team Men, 10m Air Pistol Women, 50m Rifle 3 Positions Women, 25m Pistol Team Women, Women's Cricket, and Equestrian Dressage Team.

Esha Singh, a pistol shooter, secured an impressive four medals, including one gold and three silver.

Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar emerged as another standout performer, amassing a total of four medals, consisting of two gold, one silver, and one bronze.

Rifle shooter Ashi Chouksey claimed three medals, including two silver and one bronze.

Several other Indian athletes distinguished themselves by winning two medals each.

These athletes include Palak Gulia (gold and silver), Sift Kaur Samra (gold and silver), Anush Agarwalla (gold and bronze), Ashish (silver and bronze), Punit Kumar (silver and bronze), Anant Jeet Singh Naruka (silver and bronze), Ramita Jindal (silver and bronze), Bheem Singh (silver and bronze), and Jaswinder Singh (silver and bronze).
