Bad News Continues For Delhi Congress: Two Former MLAs Quit Party Over Alliance With AAP After President's Resignation

In a significant setback for the Congress party, Neeraj Basoya and Naseeb Singh, observers for two Lok Sabha seats in Delhi, have resigned from their positions, as per a report by NDTV.

The resignations were addressed to party president Mallikarjun Kharge and were primarily attributed to the Congress's alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Neeraj Basoya, former MLA and party observer for the West Delhi parliamentary seat, cited the alliance with the AAP as the reason for his resignation.

In his letter, he expressed concern that the alliance was bringing disrepute and embarrassment to Delhi Congress workers.

Naseeb Singh, former MLA and party observer for North West Delhi, expressed dissatisfaction over the appointment of Devender Yadav as the Delhi Congress chief.

He criticised Yadav for allegedly campaigning against AAP in Punjab but now being expected to support AAP and its CM Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi.

Both leaders tendered their resignations from all party posts and primary membership.

Their resignations come shortly after veteran Congress leader Arvind Singh Lovely resigned as Delhi unit chief, citing Congress's alliance with AAP and the issue of tickets given to "total stranger" candidates like Udit Raj and Kanhaiya Kumar.

The resignations highlight the internal challenges facing the Congress party ahead of the Lok Sabha polls in Delhi, scheduled for 25 May, where it is contesting three seats.
