Political strategist Prashant Kishor has indicated the potential emergence of a new political entity in Bihar, citing ample room for a fresh entrant amid “maximum anti-incumbency” in the state.
With Bihar witnessing nearly three and a half decades of rule by ideologically similar formations led by either Lalu Prasad Yadav or Nitish Kumar, Kishor believes there is significant space for a new party to address the evolving political landscape.
His remarks come amidst his ongoing 'Jan Suraaj' yatra across Bihar, which is expected to culminate in the establishment of a political outfit ahead of the upcoming assembly polls in the latter half of the next year.
Once the party takes shape, it will contest every election, Kishor said, reported Indian Express.
Kishor also acknowledged Bihar's existing political spectrum, comprising regional parties like the RJD and JD(U), alongside national players such as the BJP, Left, and Congress.
"Almost similar formations built around Lalu and Nitish have been there for 35 years. They have similar ideologies more or less,” he said
However, he added that “Anti-incumbency is maximum there. There has been no fundamental change in these 35 years. According to me, there is space."
Reflecting on his 'yatra' objectives, Kishor underscored the intention to mobilise individuals associated with the movement to establish a new political entity.
Kishore also said that he has so far travelled through 60 per cent of the state.
"On Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary on 2 October 2022, he planned to identify 20 “right” people in every block but has received a massive response, with anywhere between 2,500 and 3,000 people willing to become its founder members," he added.
