In a shocking incident at the Danapur Civil Court in Patna on Friday (15 December), criminals ambushed a prisoner and fatally shot him.
The victim, a detainee from Beur Jail, was brought to Danapur Court for a hearing, as reported by Amarujala.
During this transfer, assailants with prior grievances fired six consecutive shots at the prisoner, causing him to collapse on the ground.
Amidst heightened security, the broad daylight gunfire sent shockwaves through the locality.
A significant crowd gathered promptly as people rushed to comprehend the situation.
Following the incident, two assailants attempting to escape were apprehended by both residents and the police.
Upon closer inspection of the crime scene, authorities discovered four bullet casings, affirming the severity of the attack.
The deceased, identified as Abhishek Kumar, alias "Chhote Sarkar," was a notorious criminal with a history of 16 cases.
Arrested on 3 July 2022, he was transferred from Beur Jail to Danapur Court for legal proceedings.
This shocking incident has raised concerns about the security protocols during the transfer of prisoners and the audacity of criminals to commit such acts even in broad daylight.
Investigations are underway to determine the motive behind the attack and any potential lapses in the security arrangements during the prisoner's transfer.
