Congress leader Rahul Gandhi targeted the ruling Narendra Modi government over paper leaks for UGC-NET and NEET-UG on Thursday (20 June) while addressing a press conference.
"Narendra Modi is either unable to stop paper leaks or does not want to stop them. Students suffer. They are playing with your future. Modi government is trying to spread Madhya Pradesh's Vyapam scam to whole country," Gandhi said.
He alleged that educational institutions have been captured by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) people. "Until this capture is not reversed, paper leaks will continue. The capture is facilitated by Modi," he added.
Gandhi demanded action against perpetrators of paper leak and expressed uncertainty whether the NEET paper will also be canceled after arrested accused confessed to paper leak before Bihar Police.
He pointed that Congress manifesto not only mentioned strict action against paper leaks, but also pre-emptive action of assessing and redesigning our educational structures to prevent paper leaks.
On the question of Gandhi's ally Tejashwi Yadav's link in the NEET paper leak in Patna, he said that action should be taken against those who perpetrated paper leak.
He alleged that vice-chancellors of universities and people involved in the conduct of exams are chosen on the basis of ideology and are mediocre, which is resulting into such failures like paper leaks.
