Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to unveil the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s manifesto on Friday (6 September) ahead of the Jammu & Kashmir Assembly elections.
His two-day visit to the region will see the release of the manifesto, Sankalp Patra, marking the BJP’s formal campaign launch for the three-phase elections slated to commence on 18 September.
Amit Shah’s visit is seen as crucial for the BJP in Jammu & Kashmir, given the internal challenges the party has faced recently.
In the last few weeks, several leaders and party members have left the party, expressing dissatisfaction with the allocation of tickets.
Reports indicate that several party leaders left after not securing tickets for the approaching elections, leading to internal friction within the BJP.
The party has since sought to ease tensions, assigning key figures and Union ministers to manage the situation.
Shah’s visit is seen as a critical step in resolving these issues and bringing the party together before the elections.
Shah is set to release the BJP’s manifesto at 4 pm on the day of his arrival in Jammu on Friday.
The manifesto is expected to outline the party’s vision for the development of the Union Territory, as well as its promises to address key local issues.
Following the manifesto release, Shah is expected to meet with party leaders and delegations of party workers, providing a platform for him to engage directly with members and address the concerns arising from the internal discord.
On Saturday (7 September), Shah will formally kick off the BJP’s election campaign in Jammu with a rally.
The decision to launch the campaign from Jammu holds significance, as the BJP secured nine out of 11 seats in the district during the 2014 Assembly elections, which contributed to its overall tally of 25 seats in the region.
Shah’s rally is expected to emphasise the party’s commitment to the welfare and development of the people in Jammu.
