A BJP leader was fatally injured and died during clashes with the Patna Police, where protesters were demonstrating against the Bihar government's decision regarding the appointment of teachers in the state.

The incident took place at Dakbangla Chauraha in the city, where ongoing protests were taking place.

The BJP leader, Vijay Kumar Singh, tragically lost his life during the confrontation.

Following the incident, Singh was immediately rushed to a hospital for medical attention. However, despite efforts to save him, he was declared dead upon arrival.

The news of Singh's death was confirmed by Rajya Sabha MP Sushil Modi, who shared the information on Twitter. The loss of the BJP leader has left a deep impact on the party and its supporters, he said.

During the 'Vidhan Sabha March', posited to be a demonstration against the amended Teachers' Recruitment Policy of the JDU-led state government, the BJP leaders were subjected to a lathicharge by authorities.

To disperse the BJP workers, security personnel resorted to using water cannons and tear gas.

In response to the incident, BJP chief JP Nadda expressed his dissatisfaction on Twitter, attributing the lathi-charge to the failure and incompetence of the state government.

Nadda tweeted in Hindi, accusing the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) government of attacking democracy to protect corruption. He also criticized the chief minister of Bihar for compromising his own morality to support a person facing charges.

BJP leader Sushil Modi criticized Bihar CM Nitish Kumar for the death of a party member.

"It is unfortunate that one of our party workers died as a result of police lathi charge. He passed away while being transported to the hospital. We will file murder charges against the police. Nitish Kumar is accountable for all of this," the Former Bihar Deputy CM stated, as reported by ANI.

In the meantime, the Bihar Education Department has issued an order prohibiting education department officials and teachers from taking any leaves for the next week.

The order stated that the leaves of district education officers, district program officers, and other officials, including teachers, have been suspended.

The order also stated that officials from the education department would need to obtain permission from Deputy Secretary KK Pathak in order to take leaves in exceptional situations.
