Om Prakash Rajbhar, supremo of the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) has claimed that his ally Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) makes people from Dalit and Other Backward Class (OBC) communities 'leaders'.
Attacking the opposition parties, Samajwadi Party (SP), Congress and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Rajbhar said, "SP, BSP and Congress make loaders while BJP makes leaders from Dalit and OBC communities."
He claimed that the BJP helped SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and BSP supremo Mayawati to become Chief Minister (CM) of Uttar Pradesh (UP).
Rajbhar then named leaders of BJP's other allies and claimed that the party made them leaders too. His list includes NISHAD party chief Sanjay Nishad and Apna Dal (Soneylal) supremo Anupriya Patel.
"BJP made Sanjay Nishad a leader, Anupriya Patel a leader and Om Prakash Rajbhar a leader," he said in response to a debate sparked by BJP MLA Rajesh Chaudhary's statement that helping Mayawati to become CM was BJP's mistake.
Rajbhar also attacked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for demanding a caste census and said, ""When the report (caste census) was sought, who tore the bill in the Lok Sabha? Rahul Gandhi tore it."
"He (Gandhi) forgot that he ran the government for 60 years in the state and the country, was he asleep then?... If he had done the things he is talking about today, while in power, then he would not have been in this situation today," he added.
Rajbhar accused Gandhi of looting the rights of the backward, the Dalits, and the poor and said that the Narendra Modi government will do the caste census when the time is right.
