Former BJP MP Jayant Sinha was Jayant Sinha was served a show-cause notice by the party for not taking part in "organisational work and election campaigning" for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Jayant Sinha won from Hazaribagh twice (in 2014 and 2019), but for the 2024 elections, the BJP fielded Sadar MLA Manish Jaiswal, after he urged the party to relieve him from "direct electoral duties."

Voting in Hazaribagh was held in the fifth phase of elections on Monday (20 May), where Jayant Sinha did not even cast his vote. The BJP alleged that his conduct "maligned" the party's image.

The show-cause notice served by BJP state general secretary Aditya Sahu has asked Sinha to respond within two days. This comes after his son Aashir Sinha joined the Congress last week.

Notably, this was the first time since 1998 that any member of the former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha's family did not contest the Lok Sabha election in Hazaribagh.
