Haryana president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Mohan Lal Badoli revealed that the party is planning to give 25 per cent of tickets to fresh faces in the upcoming assembly elections in the state.
Earlier, it was reported that the BJP is preparing a report card of incumbent MLAs and those who unsuccessfully contested the election in 2019 to see whether they are eligible to get tickets this time.
During the preparation, it might have appeared that instead of fielding the old players, it would be better to field new faces to tackle the anti-incumbency of 10 years.
The plan to field more and more new faces was reiterated by BJP's Haryana election in charge Satish Punia in an interview with Amar Ujala. He added that caste equations and winnability will decide the candidate.
The party is likely to release its first candidate list before the announcement of election dates. The candidates will be finalised by central leadership based on the ground feedback of party workers.
The BJP has relied on its image of running a corruption-free government for 10 years while also making some populist announcements like Minimum Support Price (MSP) for all crops to tackle anti-incumbency.
