A pro-incumbency wave was seen in the Assembly elections of both northeastern states that went to the polls along with the Lok Sabha elections.
While the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 46 of the 60 Assembly seats in Arunachal Pradesh, the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) swept Sikkim by winning 31 of the 32 seats.
The BJP improved its 2019 tally in Arunachal Pradesh by jumping from 41 to 46. Similarly, SKM also made a jump from 17 to 31.
The main opposition party, Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF), won only one seat, as opposed to winning 15 seats in 2019.
In Arunachal Pradesh, the National People's Party (NPP) won five seats, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) won three seats, and the People's Party of Arunachal won two seats.
The Indian National Congress won only one seat, down from four in 2019, while three seats were bagged by Independents.
