As Jharkhand's new Chief Minister Champai Soren is seeking a trust vote in the Assembly today (5 February), former CM Hemant Soren also addressed the Assembly after his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Calling his arrest as "black chapter" of India's democracy, Soren said, "On 31 January night, for the first time in the country, a CM was arrested, in my knowledge. I think somewhere Raj Bhavan is involved in this too."
The Jharkhand Murkti Morcha (JMM) leader targeted BJP saying that it is the manifestation of their frustration and that they have never wore a Gandhi topi (cap). He claimed to not havet accepted defeat yet.
"Today I have been arrested on charges of 8.5 acre land scam. If they have the courage, then show the documents of the land registered in Hemant Soren's name. If it is proved, I will quit politics," the JMM leader said.
"I will not shed tears today as there is no value of tears of Adivasis, Dalits and Backwards. I will keep these tears for the right time. I will give answers to their questions and conspiracies at the right time," Soren added.
Menwhile, the new CM Champai Soren also backed Hemant Soren and said, "Today the whole country is seeing how injustice is being done to him" and highlighted welfare schemes of his government.
The ruling coalition currently has 47 MLAs in the 81-seat Jharkhand Assembly. The MLAs were kept in Hyderabad over fears of poaching by BJP and returned to Ranchi last evening for the trust vote.
