As Hemant Soren is set to become the Chief Minister of Jharkhand again, BJP MP from Godda, Dr Nishikant Dubey has claimed that the outgoing CM Champai Soren was made to cry in the meeting of the MLAs.

After coming out on bail in a land scam case on 28 June, Hemant Soren called a meeting of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress MLAs, where he was unanimously chosen as leader.

While some media reports claimed that Champai Soren himself proposed Hemant Soren's name for CMship, others claim that Champai Soren felt "insulted" on being replaced by the JMM chairman.

On similar lines, Dubey posted on X, "Jharkhand movement leader Champai Soren ji was made to cry in the legislative party meeting yesterday."

He also alleged that the advisor of the new CM was involved in a brawl and questioned, "Is this the culture of Jharkhand?", adding that BJP Jharkhand president Babulal Marandi will safeguard honour of tribals.

Notably, the JMM was trying to play the tribal card in the upcoming Assembly elections over Hemant Soren's arrest. But by using Champai Soren against Hemant, the BJP might try to divide tribal votes.

Marandi is himself a tribal and has been BJP state president for a year but the party failed to win a single seat reserved for Scheduled Tribe (ST) in Jharkhand in the recently held Lok Sabha elections.

Moreover, it could win only two of the 28 ST-reserved seats in the state in the last Assembly elections, which sums up why the BJP needs tribal votes to form a government in Jharkhand.
