Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today (4 July) met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi to seek the central government's support for the state's development.

In a post on X after the meeting, Naidu wrote, "Today, I had a constructive meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi to address important matters concerning the welfare and development of Andhra Pradesh. I am confident that under his leadership, our state will re-emerge as a powerhouse among states."

He also met Union ministers Nitin Gadkari and Piyush Goyal. In the following days, he is expected to meet other top ministers like Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman and J P Nadda.

While Naidu's Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has an important role to play at the centre, given the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) does not have a majority of its own, the centre's support is crucial for the execution of projects such as Polavaram and the construction of the capital city at Amaravati.

The meeting comes about a month after the TDP-Jana Sena-BJP government was sworn in Andhra Pradesh.
