Citing Centre's Alleged 'Neglect And Apathy', Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan Set To Lead Protest In Delhi On 8 February

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is set to lead a protest in Delhi on 8 February, condemning what the state government perceives as the Centre’s neglect and apathy towards Kerala.

The demonstration, slated to take place at the iconic Jantar Mantar, will witness the active participation of Kerala government ministers, Left Democratic Front (LDF) MLAs, MPs, and leaders from various coalition parties.

As reported by Hindustan Times, the decision to organise the protest follows detailed discussions between Chief Minister Vijayan, leader of opposition V D Satheesan, and P K Kunhalikutty.

The state government contends that the Centre is unjustly denying Kerala's right to borrow funds, reducing central investments, and stalling crucial projects, such as the Sabari rail corridor.

The protest, viewed as a collective voice representing the people of Kerala, aims to draw attention to these critical issues and rally leaders to jointly address the concerns surrounding the state's overall welfare and development.

LDF Convenor EP Jayarajan emphasised that the protest transcends political affiliations, serving as a platform to highlight the collective grievances of the people of Kerala.

He stressed the need for Congress-led UDF leaders to join forces in addressing the challenges faced by the state.

Following discussions with the chief minister, Leader of Opposition V D Satheesan stated that UDF leaders would convene to decide on their participation in a unified protest against the perceived neglect by the BJP-led Centre.
