In a significant development, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress have reportedly reached a broad understanding to share seats in several key states, including Delhi, Gujarat, Goa, Chandigarh, and Haryana, ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
As reported by NDTV, the agreement, discussed at Congress leader KC Venugopal's residence, is expected to be officially confirmed soon, although some details are still being ironed out.
Earlier indications had suggested that an agreement for Delhi was nearing completion.
As per the arrangement, the AAP is expected to contest four seats, while the Congress will field candidates for three.
The agreement reportedly extends to other BJP-ruled states as well.
In Gujarat, the AAP is set to contest two seats, Bharuch and Bhavnagar, while the Congress will vie for Chandigarh's lone Lok Sabha seat, currently held by the BJP.
Similarly, in Haryana, the AAP will contest one seat.
The understanding has also reached in Goa, where the AAP had initially declared its candidate from the South Goa seat but will now withdraw in favor of the Congress.
Notably, this agreement does not affect the equation in Punjab, where the AAP is expected to contest all 13 seats.
