After intense deliberations, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge has reportedly been appointed as the chairperson of the INDI Alliance.

This came after the INDIA alliance of the 28 opposition parties held discussions on Saturday in a virtual meeting.

During the meeting, the leaders of the INDI Alliance reviewed the seat-sharing agenda, participation in Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra and other matters related to the alliance.

However, the opposition bloc is yet to formulate a strategy for seat allocation in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Bihar Chief Minister and JDU leader Nitish Kumar suggested in INDI Alliance meeting today (13 January) that someone from Congress should assume charge, NDTV reported.

This decision on Chairperson is just one aspect of the various challenges confronting the INDI Alliance, a group of several opposition parties including Congress.

Meanwhile, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was also named for the convenor post. However, Nitish Kumar's party said he was not after any position.

A final call on the convenor post will be taken after a discussion with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav.
