Prime Minister Narendra Modi continued his tradition of celebrating Diwali with soldiers by visiting security personnel stationed in Gujarat’s Kachchh on Thursday (31 October), and extended festive greetings to them.

Dressed in Security force uniform, visuals showed him offering sweets to the soldiers posted there.

Prime Minister Modi met personnel of BSF, Army, Navy and Air Force at Lakki Nala in Sir Creek in Kachchh, NDTV reported.

Since assuming office in 2014, Prime Minister Modi has made it a point to celebrate Diwali with soldiers stationed across various regions of India.

His visits have spanned locations including Siachen in 2014, the Punjab border in 2015, Sumdo in Himachal Pradesh in 2016, Gurez sector in Jammu and Kashmir in 2017, Harsil in Uttarakhand in 2018, Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir in 2019, and Longewala in Rajasthan in 2020.

In recent years, he celebrated Diwali with soldiers in Nowshera, Kashmir in 2021, Kargil, Jammu and Kashmir in 2022, and Lepcha in Himachal in 2023.

In 2014, shortly after the BJP assumed power, Prime Minister Modi visited Siachen and told the soldiers posted there that 125 crore Indians can celebrate Diwali and go about their lives because the soldiers stand guard at the border.

He remarked that he was celebrating the festival as a representative of their families back home.
