The Pune Police have arrested Manorama Khedkar, mother of controversial IAS trainee officer Puja Khedkar, for allegedly misusing a licensed firearm.
Manorama Khedkar, who is the sarpanch of Bhalgaon village in Ahmednagar, was seen brandishing a pistol at a farmer during a heated land dispute in a viral video from 2023 that recently surfaced.
Another video of her also simultaneously went viral in which she is seen threatening metro workers at a construction site. In the video, Manorama can be seen entering into a heated conversation with the workers.
Earlier, Pune Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar had issued her a show cause notice, which was affixed to the door of the Khedkar residence since no one was present to receive it.
The Pune Rural Police had also registered a case against her under the Arms Act following a complaint from the farmer, who alleged that Manorama Khedkar and others had threatened him over the land dispute.
The video shows Manorama Khedkar confronting the farmer with a pistol in hand, accompanied by bouncers, and arguing about the land ownership in Pune's Mulshi tehsil.
In another related development, the Pune Police have seized a luxury sedan used by Pooja Khedkar, which illegally bore a 'Government of Maharashtra' sticker and a red-blue beacon.
Puja Khedkar, a 32-year-old IAS officer from the 2023 batch, recently came under scrutiny for allegedly demanding special privileges not accorded to trainee officers.
Khedkar is under investigation for allegedly misrepresenting herself under the PwBD and OBC categories to qualify for the civil service exam.
Additionally, there were serious allegations that she faked a mental illness to obtain a disability certificate and took the UPSC exam under the visually impaired category.
