Four individuals accused in the Manipur sexual assault video case, where two women from the Kuki-Zomi community were paraded naked and sexually assaulted on May 4, have been granted custody to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday (July 31).

Following the state government's order to transfer the case to the CBI, the central agency assumed control of the investigation last week.

The accused were presented before a special judge in Thoubal by the police, who requested their remand in judicial custody until August 14.

However, the CBI filed an application seeking custody of the accused, which the court granted until August 2.

The court has instructed the CBI's investigating officer to present the accused before the court on August 2.

Furthermore, the court has announced that it will consider the bail applications filed by the accused on that day.

Manipur Police apprehended four individuals on July 20th, following their identification in a widely circulated online video.

The case has led to a total of seven arrests thus far, as authorities continue their investigation.
