The Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested Rizwan Abdul Haji Ali, a resident of Daryaganj, for his alleged links to the terrorist group Islamic State of Iraq and Syria's (ISIS) Pune module.
Rizwan Ali is allegedly an ISIS module operative.
In March, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) attached four properties in Pune, labelling them as "proceeds of terrorism", in connection with an ISIS module case, Hindustan Times reported.
These properties, situated in Kondhwa, Pune, were associated with 11 individuals, three of whom are currently absconding.
The NIA alleges that these properties served as sites for IED construction, training, and the orchestration of terrorist activities.
The attached properties, consisting of residential homes and apartments, were linked to Mohammed Imran Khan, Mohammed Yunus Saki, and Mohammed Shahnawaz Alam, and others.
According to the NIA, these individuals were part of an ISIS conspiracy aimed at executing terror attacks across Maharashtra, Gujarat, and other regions of India.
Their activities allegedly included IED training and generating terror funds through armed robberies.
In December 2023, the NIA filed charges against six accused in the Maharashtra ISIS terror module case. The investigation in the case revealed a broader conspiracy with international connections and a network to spread ISIS ideology within India.
The charge sheet, submitted to the NIA Special Court in Mumbai, included Tabish Nasser Siddiqui from Mumbai, Zulfikar Ali Barodawala, also known as "Lalabhai," Sharjeel Shaikh, and Aakif Ateeque Nachan from Borivali-Padgha, along with Zubair Noor Mohammad Shaikh, also known as "Abu Nusaiba," and Adnanali Sarkar from Pune.
"They are all members of the proscribed ISIS outfit and had hatched a conspiracy to further the terrorist activities of the organisation, with the intention to strike fear and terror among people and threaten the security of India, its secular ethos and culture and the democratic system of governance," the NIA spokesperson had said.
In October last year, Delhi Police also arrested three ISIS terrorists, including Mohammad Shahnawaz, who was on the NIA's most wanted list.
Shahnawaz was accused of being a member of an ISIS sleeper cell based in Pune.
