A detailed project report (DPR) of the proposed metro project of Aurangabad would be ready by November.
This information was shared by the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha Metro) on 27 September.
According to officials of Maha Metro, more than 50 per cent DPR work has been completed.
The final DPR will be submitted to Aurangabad Municipal corporation (AMC) and the Aurangabad Smart City Development Corporation Limited (ASCDCL) for further consultations.
Maha Metro's managing director Brijesh Dixit recently held a meeting with Union Minister of State for Finance Bhagwat Karad to brief about the ongoing DPR work.
The ASCDCL has engaged Maha Metro to prepare the comprehensive mobility plan (CMP) of the city and a combined DPR of metro rail and flyover.
As part of the proposed project for which DPR is being prepared, two metro sections — Waluj to Shendra MIDC and Bidkin to Harsul are proposed to be constructed.
In fact, given Maha Metro expertise in implementing infrastructure projects like road over bridges (ROBs), railway under bridges (RUB), the organisation has also been asked to prepare plan for flyover, which will run parallel to the metro track, as has been executed in Nagpur.
Metro via-duct and flyover will run parallel from Waluj to Shendra MIDC of Aurangabad.
Maha Metro is a joint venture between government of India and the government of Maharashtra, with equal equity participation.
After successfully implementing metro rail projects in Nagpur and Pune and having prepared DPR for similar projects in the cities of Nasik, Thane and Warangal (Telangana), Maha Metro is now working on similar projects in the city of Aurangabad.
