A video clip of Amit Shah speaking with former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tamil Nadu state president and the party's South Chennai Lok Sabha candidate, Tamilisai Soundararajan has gone viral on social media.
The exchange between the two occurred at the oath taking ceremony of Chandrababu Naidu as the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh.
While what was spoken is not known, Shah could be seen wagging his finger while speaking with her. His face too suggested that he wasn't happy.
It has led to speculation that Shah had admonished her for her recent remarks regarding an alliance with the AIADMK.
Responding to remarks made by AIADMK leader S P Velumani, who claimed that an alliance of the two parties would have won 30-35 seats, she had stated that it is true that if there was an alliance between the two parties, the DMK led alliance would not have won all the seats.
Members of the BJP as well as a number of supporters of the party criticised Soundararajan for her remarks and it was seen as criticism of the current state president, K Annamalai, who is known to be against an alliance with the AIADMK.
The video however led to a variety of comments, with some saying that a Gujarati (Shah) had disrespected a Tamilian, this was not the way to behave with a woman leader and that such things should have been conveyed privately.
