Elon Musk has decided to change the logo of Twitter, replacing the iconic blue bird with a stylized X. This is part of Musk's plan to transform the 17-year-old service into a comprehensive app that offers everything.

Notably, it all happened in just 24 hours, when Musk asked his 149 million followers to suggest an X logo for Twitter. He selected one of the designs and made it his new profile picture.

He then later confirmed that he intends to use it as a temporary design, with the possibility of refining it in the future.

During the process of crowdsourcing the logo, Musk changed his profile information to display "X.com" as his web address. This address now redirects to corresponding user pages on twitter.com.

Together with Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino, Musk explained that this change is part of a larger overhaul that includes removing the familiar "Twitter" branding and bird logo.

Musk's plans for Twitter have evolved over time. Initially, he aimed to eliminate bots on the platform and protect free speech.

However, he now sees Twitter as a tool to accelerate the development of his vision for an all-encompassing app called X, similar to Tencent Holdings Ltd.'s WeChat.

The newly appointed CEO Linda expressed support for the X service on Sunday, describing it as an AI-powered platform that aims to be a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services, and opportunities.

She added that this platform would offer various features such as payments, banking, audio, video, and messaging.
