The exit polls for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections by India Today - Axis My India predict a strong performance for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar, with an estimated 29 to 33 seats and a vote share of 48 percent.
The Indian National Developmental Inclusive (INDI) Alliance is expected to get 7 to 10 seats with a 42 percent vote share, while others, with 10 percent votes, may chip away with 0 to 2 seats.
Individually, with 21 percent of the votes, BJP is projected to get 13 to 15 seats, while Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)), the second biggest party in the alliance, is expected to win 9 to 11 seats with 19 percent of the votes. Chirag Paswan-led Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) (LJP(RV)) has been predicted to win 4 to 5 seats with a probable vote share of 6 percent.
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), the leader of the INDI Alliance in the state and Congress are projected to win 4 to 6 seats, and 1 to 2 seats respectively. Others, including independents and left parties, are projected to win between 1 to 6 seats. The projected vote shares for RJD, Congress, and others are 24, 10, and 20 percent, respectively.
On the other hand, Republic-PMarq exit poll predicts, 37 seats for BJP-led NDA in Bihar, while the INDI bloc is projected to win 3 seats, improvement of 2 seats over 2019 when the Mahagathbandhan had won only 1 seat.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP secured victory in all the 17 seats it contested. LJP, a unified unit back then, also had a strike rate of 100 percent, winning all six seats it contested. JD(U) was the only party in the coalition that recorded a loss, from the Kishanganj seat. In total, it won 16 out of 17 seats.
Bihar sends 40 members to the Lok Sabha and went for polls in all seven phases of the election.
