Explained: New Delhi Resolution On Artificial Intelligence That Gained Unanimous Support From Twenty-Nine Nations At GPAI Summit

In a significant development, the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) witnessed unanimous support for the New Delhi resolution from its twenty-nine member nations.

The resolution's goal is to encourage joint efforts among member countries in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), particularly in areas like healthcare and agriculture.

As reported by Economic Times, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, emphasised the group's dedication to leading global discussions on AI governance, safety, and trust.

He stressed that GPAI aims to be inclusive, with a focus on involving countries from the Global South and extending the benefits of AI solutions worldwide.

The minister also urged like-minded countries to accelerate regulatory efforts, emphasising the need for comprehensive AI regulations before the next GPAI meeting in Korea.

The declaration signed by GPAI member nations addressed concerns such as misinformation, unemployment, transparency, protection of intellectual property, personal data, and potential threats to human rights and democratic values.

It stressed the need for equitable access to resources to ensure societies benefit from and build competitive AI solutions.
