Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Director General of Police (DGP) R R Swain on Sunday (7 July) confirmed the neutralisation of six terrorists in two different encounters in Kulgam that began on Saturday.
Swain called these killings a big milestone for the security forces and said that these successes matter in strengthening the security environment substantially.
"Flow of human intelligence shows that this fight (against terrorism) will reach its logical conclusion," Swain said adding that with the support of the people, security forces will be on the winning side.
While the DGP said that the killed terrorists are yet to be identified, he suspects that they might be locals and belong to different terrorist groups.
"Numbers can't express security situation. We take every act with seriousness. In the Jammu region, efforts are to activate an old mechanism which is concerning. But this does not mean that they have succeeded," he added.
The DGP emphasised that while the terrorists have been able to orchestrate one or two attacks, they have not been able to raise a support base for themselves.
"If you go in Doda or Udhampur or other parts of Jammu, you will realise that an ecosystem to spread terrorism does not exist. This is our biggest success. We hope that we maintain peace," Swain concluded.
