After concluding his cricket career in 2023 following the Indian Premier League, Ambati Rayudu, the former Indian cricketer, ventured into the realm of politics.
In a ceremony held in Vijayawada, he officially joined the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP), the ruling party of Andhra Pradesh according to a report from Hindustan Times.
The event was graced by the presence of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Deputy CM Narayan Swamy, and YSRCP MP Peddireddy Mithun Reddy.
The party stated on X, "Famous Indian cricketer Ambati Tirupati Rayudu joined the YSR Congress Party in the presence of Chief Minister Shri YS Jagan at the CM Camp office. Deputy CM Narayana Swamy and MP Peddireddy Mithun Reddy participated in this program."
A native of Andhra Pradesh, Rayudu, who had previously represented the state in domestic cricket and played for Team India, marked his entry into politics after bidding farewell to the cricketing arena post the Indian Premier League in 2023.
