Jai Inder Kaur, the daughter of former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and MP Preneet Kaur, has disclosed a significant political move.

Speaking to Indian Express, she stated that her mother, Preneet Kaur, will contest from Patiala and is set to join the BJP shortly.

Additionally, Kaur revealed her own political trajectory, indicating that her candidacy could be expected in the next 2-3 years.

The announcement comes amidst a shifting political dynamics in Punjab.

Regarding her father's removal as Punjab CM by the Congress, Kaur expresses disappointment, highlighting the lack of communication and respect accorded to him despite his significant contributions to the party and the state.

"The way they did it wasn’t nice at all. It hurt me immensely, the whole family was very hurt. He gave so many years to the Congress. You can’t discard people like this", she said.

She contrasts her family's experience with the BJP's approach, noting a sense of appreciation and respect within the new political alliance.

Having joined the BJP in September 2022 following her father's exit from the Congress, she now serves as the state BJP’s Mahila Morcha president and is the sole woman in the recently formed 19-member state election committee.

Responding to perceptions of royal family members being inaccessible, Kaur refutes the notion, citing her family's extensive engagement with constituents and her own active involvement in grassroots political activities since joining the BJP.
