Four more persons have tested positive for Coronavirus (Covid-19) in Telangana, taking the total number of persons affected by the pandemic virus to 45 in the State. This includes 10 Indonesian Islamic preachers, who had come from Delhi to Kurnool.
The new cases are a cause for concern since none of the four has any recent history of travelling abroad. Two of the four are a doctor couple from Domalaguda who are consultants at Super Specialty hospitals.
Health Department officials said both had no clue as to how they got infected with Covid-19, though. The husband had travelled to Tirupati by flight.
The third patient is a 49-year-old residing at Qutbullapur in Medchal district. He had returned from New Delhi by AP Sampark Kranti Express.
Bangalore Mirror reported that the Qutbullapur patient had returned along with the 13 Indonesian Islamic preachers - 10 of whom have tested positive. A Kurnool local who was in contact with the preachers has also tested positive for Coronavirus.
The Indonesians, who landed in Delhi, had come to Ramagundam by the AP Sampark Kranti Express from Bhopal and then travelled by car to Kurnool. (Details here)
A fourth case is a 45-year-old man residing at Buddhanagar in Secunderabad. He has also travelled to Delhi.
State Health Department officials have, however, ruled out community transmission of Coronavirus in view of the latest development.
All those who have tested positive in Telangana and admitted to the Gandhi Hospital are reported to be stable.
One patient of the 45 reported in Telangana has recovered. About 20,000 persons who have returned from abroad are under observation by the Telangana Government, while tests of 32 persons are awaited.
