The Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh government has hired graduates from top institutes like IITs and IIMs to act as a link between various government departments and industrialists wanting to invest in the state; effectively streamlining all necessary communication and requirements.
The professionals will be referred as "Udyami Mitra", or friends of industrialists, and will reportedly be placed in every district in the state, as well as at headquarters from next month.
As many as 105 professionals have been hired by the state government so far. UP CM Yogi Adityanath is expected to hand over the appointment letters to these professionals on 26 May, reports Indian Express.
The professionals will get a minimum salary of Rs 70,000, excluding perks.
Udyami Mitra's main responsibility will be to assist the industrialists in obtaining clearances, expediting the process of setting up their unit, and providing guidance to them on government incentives.
For quick clearances, nodal officers and separate Udyami Mitras may be assigned for big projects, according to sources cited by IE.
The professionals are being hired with an aim to expedite the implementation process of investment proposals worth Rs 35 lakh crore received during this year's Global Investors Summit. They will become the face of Uttar Pradesh's investment initiatives at the district level, according to the officials cited in the IE report.
Applicants for the posts needed an MBA degree with minimum 60 per cent marks, proficiency in Hindi and English, and to be aged between 25 and 40 years.
Around 1,387 applications were submitted for 105 posts, with 709 candidates appearing for the computer ability test.
These posts required computer proficiency for operating through online systems developed to monitor and implement monitoring and implementing pacts signed during the Global Investors Summit.
Following the interview and test, 87 males and 18 females were eventually selected.
According to the officials, the selected professionals are from prestigious institutions such as IIM-Lucknow, IIM-Indore, IIIT-Allahabad, IIT-Gwalior, BHU, BIT Mesra, Narsee Monjee Institute, Aligarh Muslim University, IMT-Nagpur, and even MBAs from University of Wales, Cardiff, UK.
“These selected candidates would be provided 14 days of training on different aspects such as revenue code, important provisions related to land and revenue, land banks and their rates, allotment procedures, clearances, recently revised policies, and procedures for different clearances at the district-level like fire, pollution, power and electrical safety,” an official was quoted in the IE report as saying.
Of the 105 final candidates, 70 will be assigned at district level, 25 at state headquarters, and 10 to Invest UP office to facilitate industrialists at all levels.
The hiring is for a year and if required their services will be extended.
